This is a go for the fall semester.
It will be held on Monday nights. Prerequisites would be 2nd semester Java or .NET, or consent of the instructor. I don’t know cost. It will be in a Mac lab, of course, and students will have access to iPod Touches for testing their applications.
It’s not official, and I asked my contact if it was ok to spread the word, but he never gave me a direct no. So I took it upon myself to say that they are attempting to implement a Developement for Mobile Platforms class. Excuse the title, but it will be something similar. Basically they’re wanting to put an iPhone Development class together. This will teach folks how to develop, share, and deploy iPhone apps. The title of the class will be mobile platform development of some kind which will allow them to change the curriculum of the class to other platforms of mobile computing.
This is not in place…yet. My source is reliable and I’m not making this up. Timeline is for fall of 09.
So this week was a busy one. Madison Area Technical College held a small IT career fair. Those students in much of the networking/server side of curriculum showed up, and it was good to talk to contacts from other businesses and organizations. Again, it helps to network. Something I hope to do more of in the future. Speaking of which…
The local Madison, WI, chapter of the Help Desk Institute (HDI) held a meeting today. It was hosted by the local division of CDW and featured Ann, her last name escapes me and I don’t have my notes, *pauses to check local chapter’s website, no listing of event, nice*, a Project Manager with her Master’s Degree speaking about Conflict Resolution. Ann certainly knows how to inform and keep it light. Her sense of humor and approach kept it interesting and insightful. Sure, the topic can often be heard by an HR rep, but Ann’s presentation is fun and far from mundane. Ok, Ann, I’ll remove my critic hat now.
