We are seeking an uncommon professional to join our team as a Application Developer II

This is a newly-created full time employment position that requires a self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude.  Under the direction of Information Technology Management and advanced levels of professional staff, successful applicants will provide professional and technical support in the development, installation and maintenance of custom-built and vended applications supporting our Retirement Plan Services line of business.  Qualified applications will have knowledge of all phases of the system development lifecycle – and demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge to their day-to-day support of our application portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Independently perform system analysis and design to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Independently develop, test, implement, document and maintain high quality business system solutions on various technology platforms – adhering to established methodology and practices
  • Independently assemble quality documentation for ongoing support of developed solutions
  • Independently perform problem investigation, root cause analysis, impact analysis, and problem resolution support
  • Participating in a rotating on-call schedule, providing critical off-hours troubleshooting and system support
  • Promptly assume ownership of customer requests – and professionally interact with customers to complete these requests
  • Proactively identify issues and risks – and escalate as appropriate to peers and management for attention
  • Independently develop and maintain technical and business process knowledge
  • Quickly learn new technical and business concepts, and effectively apply new skills as driven by business need and/or technology advancements
  • Proactively identify and communicate business process and system improvement ideas

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or an equivalent trade-off in related education and professional work experience
  • 1-3 years of professional IT application development experience
  • Experience working with .NET 4.0
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundamental technical concepts
  • Proven ability to clearly and effectively communicate and present business and technical information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities– and organize work for quality, timely delivery
  • Proven ability to perform in a diverse, collaborative environment

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Professional experience providing application support
  • Working knowledge of SQL reporting services
  • Working knowledge of the retirement recordkeeping business
